Akkineni Naga Chaitanya is an Indian youth actor who predominantly works in Telugu cinema. He was born on (born 23 November 1986). He made his acting debut with Josh (2008) and his breakthrough came with Ye Maaya Chesave (2009), directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. He has won several film awards including the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South, Nandi Award for Best Supporting Actor and SIIMA Award for Best Actor (Critics) in 2012.
In her early years she worked in successful films including “100% Love” (2012), Tadakha (2012) and Manam (2013) with few films which did not perform well. Chaitanya is best known for his notable work in films such as Premam (2017), Majili (2018), Venky Mama (2020), Love Story (2020) and Bangaraju (2021).
He married actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu in October 2017, but they separated in October 2021.
Chaitanya was born in Hyderabad to famous Tollywood mega star actors Akkineni Nagarjuna and Lakshmi Daggubati. His grandfather, actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao and his maternal grandfather, director D. Ramanaidu are prominent figures in Telugu cinema in the 80s. His parents got divorced when Chaitanya was 6 years old. After 5 years both his parents later remarried. While Nagarjuna married another actress, Amala Mukherjee, actress Lakshmi married Sharath Vijayaraghavan, a corporate executive at Sundaram Motors. Chaitanya has a half-brother, actor Akhil Akkineni, and a maternal half-brother. His maternal uncle Venkatesh and first cousins famous actors Rana Daggubati, Sumanth and Sushant are also famous actors.
Chaitanya grew up in Hyderabad, where he was raised until the age of 19. He did his schooling in 1993 at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan, Chennai and AMM School, Hyderabad. In 2006, he completed his graduation from St. Mary’s College, Hyderabad. He expressed his desire to pursue acting as his profession to Nagarjuna during his third year in college. He enrolled in a four-month acting course in Mumbai. In addition to taking voice and dialogue coaching for two years before making her acting debut, she received further training in acting and martial arts in Los Angeles in 2007.
