Pawan is an Indian Actor, filmmaker, and politician who primarily works in Telugu cinema. He is the younger brother of actor and politician Chiranjeevi. Kalyan made his acting debut in 1996 with Akkad Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi and gained recognition with his role in Tholi Prema in 1998, which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu.
In 1997, Kalyan got married to Nandini, one year after his film debut. However, in 2001, Kalyan began a live-in relationship with his co-star Renu Desai and their son Akira Nandan was born in 2004. In June 2007, Nandini accused Kalyan of bigamy, claiming that he had remarried without divorcing her. Kalyan denied the allegation, and a magistrate court in Visakhapatnam cleared him of the charge due to lack of evidence.
Later that same month, Kalyan filed for divorce from Nandini, claiming that she had deserted him immediately after their marriage. Nandini’s lawyer denied this accusation. Kalyan and Nandini’s got a divorce in August 2008 finalized, with Kalyan paying alimony of ₹5 crores as a one-time settlement.

Kalyan entered politics in 2008 as the president of Yuvarajyam, the youth wing of the Praja Rajyam Party founded by his elder brother Chiranjeevi. Although he did not contest elections or hold any constitutional post during his time in the party, he actively campaigned for it. However, he faced some health problems during his political activities. In 2011, when Chiranjeevi merged his party with Congress, Kalyan expressed his discontent and took a break from politics.
